Nedap NV Healthcare is an independent subsidiary of the stock market quoted company Nedap NV. With its iO concept and Moves, Nedap Healthcare is the market leader in the Netherlands in the field of care registration and planning. About 33,000 care workers use a Nedap device.

Due to demographic ageing, the number of people in need of care is rising. For people’s own welfare, it is better to provide this care in their own environment – the patient’s home.

Homecare organisations specialise in providing people with care at home. In many countries, it is important to record exact details of the homecare worker’s visit to the patient. In this way, records can be kept showing which care worker has visited which patient, when, for how long and the actions that he or she has taken (iO Concept) or which need to be taken (Moves).

Registering and planning these actions on forms and entering these in a central system costs the care organisation a great deal of time and money.

Typing the information into a mobile computer such as a laptop or PDA does not resolve the problem. After all, typing everything in costs at least as much time as writing out forms.

Aim: to eliminate the administrative work so that the care workers have more time to provide care.

We reached the conclusion that the successful marketing and implementation of the concept depends on gaining the immediate enthusiasm of homecare workers for the solution. We faced the challenge of finding a simple solution to a complex problem.

Challenge: to minimise the number of actions for the care workers and process complex data with a minimum of fuss.

Caring for patients is an expensive business. There is increasing pressure from society to meticulously record the quantity of care that has been delivered and the tasks that have been performed. The recorded information has to be 100% reliable.

Requirement: Registration has to be 100% reliable and verifiable.
